Educational Scenario of the Tribal
Sub-Plan Area :
29 Mandals out of 46 are fully And 2 mandals are partly located
in the Tribal Sub-Plan area of the ITDA Bhadrachalam
The tribal population of the district is about 6.83 Lakhs,
constitution of 26% of the total population.
Education is given top priority. The agency has been running
a good number of educational institutions in the TSP area
exclusively for the tribal children. Apart from schools, it
has been running hostels also for ST children through out
the district.

In addition to the institutions directly
under the control of the ITDA, there are 125 ZPHS, 261 MPUPs
and 1243 MPPS functioning in the TSP area providing education
to about 1,95,522 children.
(60) School Complexes have been started
in the (29) mandals of the tribal sub-plan area of the district.
Permanent structures were constructed for school complexes
at cost of Rs.7.77 Lakhs each.
Need for Computer Training
and Computer Education for tribal children
The computer education facilities to the tribals will bridge
the digital divide and equip them for future challenges.
District Collector and Chairman, SSA&DPEP, Khammam took
the initiative to conceive computer education to tribals
in a systematic manner.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES :
To bring down the digital divide
between the urban and rural students, with special focus
on tribal students in agency area.
To develop IT literature among
the teachers and create IT friendly environment in the schools.
Enhance the IT knowledge base
at the school level by providing access to the students
Impart world class IT literacy
to about One lakh students in five years, studying in Tribal
welfare Ashram Schools and govt. schools in the district.
To simplify the learning process
and achieve higher academic standards and improve the results
through computer aided learning techniques.
To bring out creative talents
and skills in the students through play full and child friendly
IT techniques.
To bring in significant and drastic
changes in personality and communication abilities of the
tribal students.
To establish Giri-Pragna centers in 50
schools in tribal areas
Imparting computer education to 200
students in each center per year, covering 10000 students.
Provide computer aided learning facility
to the students.
Use computer as an aid in learning by
using animation, flash, knowledge games etc. as per the
syllabus given in the Tender document
Improve English knowledge and impart
spoken English skills to the students.
